Life Updates

People are driven by the love for something. But this is not the case with me. I am motivated by revenge. I don’t believe in fair play but it is sad that I have never got the chance to be unfair, mean, and selfish. For me each game is the last one, a matter of life-death where the winner takes it all. I may not have celebrated my wins with aplomb but have spent each moment of a loss ruminating about it and how things could have been better.

So at last college has started. Strange mix of teachers I have got. One is Dr. Parthasarthy who is as told to me the youngest person in the world to hold 3 PhD’s at the age of 36. No doubt he is going for the fourth one. He has taught at IIT-K, IIT-B but dunno what he is doing here. His favourite topics of research are the scariest ones like Quants, relativity, galaxy simulation. He looks more like a nervous first year straight out of school but at his speed, our course will be over by next week. One is Dr. Jena who is known from ages for his Mohammad Yusuf type beard, hair style (not at all stylish). Another is Piyush Saxena maam (yes its maam), and facing her from the first seat was scary due to her lipstick stained teeth, Khali type figure, also she was sweating as if kept in an incinerator.

At last saw Awarapan at last. Thanks Prateek Mohan (Darinda) for downloading it over a period of 4 months I guess. It had all what I wanted, bloodshed, massacre and the most important thing, tragic ending for the hero which I always epitomize and foolishly strive for in my life.

If I worked hard for anything apart from IIT, it was the ESPN School Quiz (attended it 1 day before VMC entrance exam) and off late, The ‘Champions of the World’ Cricket quiz which goes on air soon. I did all I could to take redemption from that last question loss at the school quiz but somehow fell short. Here, we qualified for the next round by coming second in our first episode but came third in the next one to two very good teams in the quiz, one was previous school quiz champs, and other was the finalists. But it hurt less this time cause it wasn’t that close this time and also there is a next time. The chain smoking duo (with dreams of finding a good Punjabi girl) who won the most nail-biting final one can imagine are going to Pakistan for the champions trophy (bad luck the venue wasn’t shifted).

This experience surely taught me one thing that is never to ignore your intuition even if the chips are down. What went against me was my lack of interest in cricket since Ganguly was thrown out, the over commercialization of the sport, my preferences of watching WWE over the school quiz before my own episodes, not watching a single live ball at the 2007 WC, nor the first season of this quiz. But with renewed vigour and zeal for redemption, I say

I WILL BE BACK
